The wise man who got it right
Many years ago, a very wise man approached me. He told me he had bought some land and wanted to build a house. He took me to see the land. I looked at the sun's position and where it would set, the entrance to the home, and the surrounding landscape.
This was before he had spoken to an architect or a builder. So why did he come to me first?
Simple. A home is for living inside. He knew he needed an interior designer to shape his idea before anyone drew a line or laid a brick.
The mistake I see again and again
Many people hire a builder or commission an architect before they have spoken to an interior designer. Then, halfway through the build, the questions start.
How will the media wall work? What size of sofa do I need? What colour do I paint the walls?
Suddenly, you're in a panic, searching for someone to help you fix it. By then, some of your choices have already been made for you.
That is the gap. Mind it!

What picture is in your mind?
What's your goal? A sofa that seats eight? A dining table for twelve? A hallway that conceals the shoes and the school bags?
Start there and work backwards. Don't build an extension and hope there's room on the wall for the TV.
Don't be an interior design disaster. Don't leave out what you actually want to achieve.
Can't picture it yet? That's completely normal. Most people tell me exactly what's driving them mad long before they can tell me what the answer looks like. No storage. Nowhere to sit. A kitchen that's too small for the family.

I'm a fully qualified joiner and a senior interior designer, with 37 years in the industry. I know how a room should feel, and I know how it's built. On something like a media wall with a fire in it, that matters.
I've been space planning in 3D CAD since 2010, so you'll see your room before it's built, not after.

I will guide you through the whole journey. I'll help you avoid costly mistakes, stay within budget, and deliver a five-star finish on time.
Here is how it works.
1. The free discovery call
We talk about your home, your ideas and wherever you're stuck. No pressure, no jargon, just a proper conversation about what you want.
2. Our first meeting at your home
I come and see your space for myself and learn how you live day to day. A room never looks like its photos.
3. Your vision, designed
Layouts, storage and furniture planning, drawn in 3D CAD so you can see it before it's built. This is where we decide the bed, the sofa, the dining table and the shoe storage, before a single wall is touched.
4. Drawings and approvals
If you need an architect or a building warrant, I brief them with your vision, so what gets drawn is what you actually want.
5. Know the numbers and timescales
I recommend an independent quantity surveyor's report, so you know the realistic cost and timescale before anyone lifts a hammer. This is where costly surprises get caught early.
6. Trusted trades, quoting on site
My trusted trades come to your home and quote from the site itself, not just from the plans. They can spot unnecessary spend, and if you have a budget, we work to it.
7. The build, on programme
I coordinate the programme, so the right people arrive in the right order, and you're not chasing five different trades. If I say it will be done, it's done.
8. The finishing touches
The styling, the artwork, the final details. And the very last thing I can do is place a vase of beautiful fresh flowers on your table, so you walk into the home you first pictured.
