If you have ever typed “interior designer Glasgow cost” into Google, you are probably hoping for a straight answer. Most websites avoid giving you one. We will not.

At Interior Space Design, we believe in complete transparency — on pricing, on process, and on what you actually get for your money. So here is an honest breakdown.

First — do you even need an interior designer?

Perhaps the most common thing we hear is: “I didn’t think I could afford one.” That assumption costs people money.

A client in Anniesland came to us to dress a four-bedroom detached villa for sale. We spent just over £10,000 styling it with high street products. The sale price increased by £35,000. That is not a bad return.

Interior design is not always about a full renovation. Sometimes it is a fresh set of eyes, a clear plan, and knowing what to buy and where to buy it — before you spend a penny in the wrong direction.

The biggest mistake people make

They fall in love with a sofa, buy it, then bring it home to find it does not work with their carpet. Or they buy oak flooring, then try to mix warm yellow tones with the red tones of a brown leather sofa. It never works. Interior design is like a jigsaw — you need to see the full picture before you commit to a single piece.

That is precisely what a professional consultation gives you. Not just ideas — a plan.

What does a finished room actually cost?

Every project is different — there is no one-size-fits-all answer. But to give you a realistic sense:

Bedroom refresh (new carpet, window dressings, lighting, soft furnishings and decoration) — from around £3,000.

Bathroom (full swap-over including trades) — from around £10,000.

Kitchen (units, worktops, appliances, plumbing, electrics and joinery) — from around £15,000.

These are realistic starting points, not best-case scenarios.

Who are you actually getting?

Linsey McLean, founder of Interior Space Design - 37 years of experience in joinery,

building and interior design.

Interior Space Design is led by Linsey McLean, a qualified joiner with 37 years of experience across joinery, building and interior design. Linsey began her career at 16, converted her parents’ garage into a Japanese-style bedroom — building the bed and wardrobes herself — and was subsequently offered her first interior design position after the Glasgow Herald ran an article on her work.

Consultations are carried out by Linsey or Jennie, a senior designer with around 30 years of experience. Between them, they have worked with hundreds of Glasgow homeowners, from Bearsden to Hyndland, Skye to Surrey — and a handful of discerning clients as far afield as Marbella and Jersey.

You are getting vision and ideas that you do not have yourself, and the knowledge of where to buy it — from someone who can tell immediately if the size, shape or colour of something is wrong in a room.

What happens after the consultation?

We review everything discussed and recommend the most appropriate design package for your project. You are never pushed towards a particular route — the right solution depends entirely on your home's needs and your budget.

If trades are required, we can coordinate our certified team and provide a fully itemised, transparent quotation for all work. No vague estimates. No surprises halfway through.
