Does Your Home Bring You Joy?

During a recent stay at Lochside House Hotel, I was struck by the perfection of their guest accommodation. It wasn’t just comfortable—it was inspiring.

The hotel’s owners, Robert and Vivian, are a dynamic duo, much like how we operate at our company. Robert oversees the building aspects while Vivian, with her professional eye for interior design, ensures that every detail is flawless. Their combined expertise creates an experience that leaves guests feeling truly cared for.

Take the bedrooms, for instance. The lighting is thoughtfully placed for both reading and relaxing. Tall, padded headboards invite you to sink back and unwind. The vanity area is spacious, with conveniently located sockets for hairdryers and straighteners—no more awkwardly stretching cords to see in a mirror or sitting on the floor to dry your hair.

The lounge? Pure comfort. Daybeds perfectly positioned for TV viewing, with media units that seamlessly house the TV and fire. The dining area features bench seating for six, a fantastic setup for socializing. The kitchen is a dream, with built-in appliances, a recycling pull-out, and deep drawers that keep everything organized and within reach.

And then there’s the luxury touch—your own private hot tub and two en-suite bathrooms. My personal favorite was the electric roller blinds and motion-activated lights in the hallway. Every detail, from coordinated color schemes to the smart layout, exudes perfection and luxury.

This experience made me reflect on the importance of thoughtful design in our homes. How often do we tolerate things that don’t work for us—leaky taps, inconveniently placed sockets, cluttered cupboards, or the lack of a proper place to hang our washing?

Do these small annoyances really bring us joy? Probably not. Instead, consider taking inspiration from a stay at a place like Lochside House Hotel. Treat yourself to an overnight retreat, soak in the joy of well-planned surroundings, and bring those ideas back home. What aspects of your home make you feel content? What leaves you frustrated or drained? Identify those areas, and make the necessary changes.

After all, we spend so much of our lives in our homes—why not make them places of harmony and contentment? Finding joy in your home isn’t as difficult as it might seem.

And remember, we’re here to help if you need us.
